TO THE SURFING OF THE portal
“VIVERE
IL SALENTO”
Welcome
to the Salento, here are some information that can be useful to you in order to
understand the operation of this portal
. Optimal
resolution: 800x600. Browser:
Internet Explorer 5.5 or following versions (you can directly install this
version from the portal
).
Choice
of the language:
We
have made this work in such a way that it can be understood by a lot of
consumers of different nationality. That is why the texts have been translated
into four languages (Italian,
French, English and German).
So
you can choose the language you prefer in three sections :
1.
in the Introduction where there is the
visualization of the whole portal
(this will be the basic language ).
2.
in the page Menu you can decide to visualize the portal
with a new basic
language.
3.
in all the other pages where there are special links representing “flags”
(on the right at the top of the different pages):
you can choose the language by clicking on the flag button. If you change
page, the language becomes the
basic one again.
This
means that the portal
works according to the language chosen as “basic”, but you have got
the opportunity to change it temporarily at any page.
Do
you want to know where a commune is situated in the Salento?
In
the Menu of the portal
you can find a
detailed map of the Salento. On the right of the map there is a sliding text box
containing the names of all the
communes, frazioni and seasides; you need just to click a name and from
the inside of the map a signal will depart and you can see the location of the
selected place.
The
map can be reduced or enlarged and explored in all the directions thanks to the
use of the simple “navigator” placed on the left at the bottom of the map.
These operations can also be performed by the keyboard with the keys (¬
®
¯)
and (+, -) to effect the zoom.

you want to visit a commune, to know the art, the culture, the history and many
other curiosities of it?
You
find yourself at the page representing the menù of the portal
(that with the
interactive map of the Salento)
If
you want to go to the home page of a commune you can:
1
select the commune, the frazione or the seaside in the sliding box of the
map (the commune, the frazione or the harbor will flash); by clicking where the
name of the commune, of the fraction or of the seaside appears (at the top) you
will be immediately connected to the page of the commune .
2
while you are exploring the map of the Salento you can click one of the communes
or of the frazioni and enter there.
Use
of the menu positioned on the left of the interactive map:
Key
"culture": by clicking this button you can access all the cultural
information of every commune. Selecting the name of a commune and click on it,
you will be connected to the page dealing with the culture of that village.
Key
"history": by clicking this
button you can access all the historical information of every commune. Selecting
the name of a commune and clicking
on it, you will be connected to the page dealing with the history of that
village.
Key
"Gastronomy": by clicking this button you will be connected to the
page dealing with the cooking of the Salento. In this page there is a list of
typical local recipes; clicking the name of the recipe you can have all the
necessary information to cook a special course.
Key
"nature": by clicking this button you will be connected to the page
about the nature of the Salento. At the top of this page there is a list of
items that will allow you to connect to the paragraph related to the selected
item.
Key
"services": by clicking this button you will be connected to the page
dealing with the services and
facilities of the Salento. In this page you can easily find the name, the
telephone number and the address of an any service in the Salento, besides you
can have news on the weekly markets.
Section
about
the home page of the communes
After
having clicked the name of a commune
in the interactive map inside the menù of the portal
: you will be connected to
the page of the commune.
The
home page contains different buttons that allow you several searches:
Key
“forward” and " back": they are on
the right at the top of the page and they are always present during the
surfing of the portal
. These buttons allow you to go on and back among the pages
that you have already seen. Attention: the buttons work only if you have a
version of Internet Explorer 5.5 or following (you can directly install it from
the portal
“ Living the Salento).
Key
"menù": it is on the right at the top of the page and it allows you
to return to the first page
called "menù" (where you can find the interactive map of the
Salento).
Key
"home" representing the Salento drawn in the background: it is on the
left at the top of the page and it allows you to return to the home page of the
commune you are visiting.
Key
"history": it is on the left of the page and it allows you to access
the historical part of the commune that you have selected.
Key
"culture": it is on the left of the page and it allows you to access
the cultural part of the commune that you have selected.
Key
"services": it is on the left of the page and it allows you to
visualize the page about the services and facilities of the Salento. In this
page you can find the name, the telephone number and the address of an any local
service in the Salento, besides you can have news on the weekly markets.
Each
section dealing with the commune contains also a text about the frazione (a
small village administrated by the commune). By clicking
the name of the frazione you can visit it straight away.
All the photos of the portal
can be enlarged simply
clicking on them.
Audio
and video
Your surfing can be more
pleasant thanks to a sonorous column of traditional songs of the Salento. If you
prefer not to listen to the music you can unprime it
by clicking a special icon in the menù. In some descriptions of villages
we have prepared a video that can
be visualized where there are the
photos and you can control it through a stroke put under it.
