Felline is a
small village under the administration of Alliste. Felline has his own menhir,
it is in the
countryside,
is 2.50 m tall but is not in good conditions. We do not know exactly how and
when the village was founded but we suppose it was founded by the Messapi or by
the Greeks, in this case the name of the village means ‘reed’. When the Normans
came, the King Tancredi gave the village to Guglielmo Bonsecolo. It was then
ruled by Pisanellis, the De Nohas, the Tolomeis, the Cappellis, the Acquavivas
and finally the barons Scategnas. Among the famous people of Felline we remember
Lorenzo Scategna. He belonged to the Scategnas, a rich family, and became a
famous and appreciated lawyer.
